Carol Barnes is the convenor of a support group for parents and teachers of children who are both gifted and learning disabled, under the NSW Association for Gifted and Talented Children. Also on the Gold Coast Committee of the Queensland Association for Gifted and Talented Children and the convenor of that Branch’s parent support group, Carol sits on Education Queensland’s South-Coast Gifted Education Steering Committee.  In 2009, she presented at World Gifted in Vancouver and Gifted Challenge at the University of Western Sydney, and also completed accredited training as a SENG Parent Support Group facilitator under the American SENG Gifted Association.
